For the whole of 2018, Qistoria Pilipinas Digital Project aims to physically locate, document, and connect the first 500 Historical Markers within Metro Manila and nearby provinces. Once a marker is completely processed, a Quick Response (QR) Code is generated for the intended link-up to be made available to users.

How to scan QR Codes with an Android smartphone

     1. The first thing you are going to need to do here is go to the Google Play store and download the free QR Code Reader app

         – the file size should be around 3MB depending on your smartphone.

     2. Launch the app.

     3. There's also a built-in QR reader in the Wallet app on iPhone and iPod. To access the scanner, open the app, click on the

plus button at the top of the "Passes" section, then tap on Scan Code to Add a Pass.

Where will the QR Codes be found?

     1. We intend to place an actual QR Code in the immediate vicinity of each marker wherever they may be found (physical

geographic location). A  QR Code, once scanned, will give the user additional information on the subject beyond the usually

short, and limited information offered by the marker enscription. As long as an internet connection is available, immediate

access to related articles, videos, and updates are delivered right into the user's mobile device.

*This would entail actualy negotiations with present site / property owners for those privately-owned, and a

Memorandum of Agreement with the NHCP for state-owned/managed locations.

     2. Every end of a coverage year (March 2019) and thereafter, an annual compilation journal of all markers documented will be

released to the public. This printed material will feature markers and their corresponding QR Codes, thereby making it

possible for students and teachers to scan codes and "go on a digital learning tour" at the comfort of their schools and

         homes.

How to use the Historical Markers Map:

     1. Left navigation panel: Click on the Marker Title, both panels will show information and location of a marker

     2. Right navigation panel: Pan on the map, select a locator pin icon, both panels populate with information

Note: As this is an on-going project that may take 5 years or longer to completely locate and document all previously installed markers, some information may not be present when searched. Be patient, as all data will be completed in time.
